Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a ministry of the Assemblies of God, which is among the most ethnically diverse religious movements in the U.S. We abhor racism in any form and fully embrace the statement entitled “Campus Ministries Unite Against Racism, Anti-Semitism & White Supremacy” released by InterVarsity. Our sincere appreciation is extended to them for this response on behalf of Christian campus ministries.

As our Assemblies of God leadership said in the hours following the horrific events in Charlottesville, “Acts of hatred and racism, such as what was seen in Charlottesville, are despicable and hold no place in a civil society. May the world know we are disciples of Jesus by our love.”

There has been a recent incident at The Pillar, a building owned by the Assemblies of God and managed by Chi Alpha at Oregon State University, affiliated with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries, U.S.A. In the top two floors of The Pillar is a men’s co-op unaffiliated with Chi Alpha and nonreligious in nature. One of the tenants of the co-op has recently placed a confederate flag covering the inside of their window. He has been asked to remove the flag but has refused. We are currently exploring our options under the law to have this remedied as soon as possible. Chi Alpha wholly rejects any racist implications of this action and welcomes students from all backgrounds.
